Next Year’s Junior Infants Visit CBC

Many of the boys who will start Junior Infants Class next August came along to CBC this morning to spend a couple of hours with Mrs Lowry.  Their parents stayed in the classroom until the boys settled down, which did not take very long.  Then there was a morning of fun with stories, games and a spell in the playground.  They are all looking forward to coming back after the summer.

New School Year Begins

Junior Infants ClassroomThe new school year began in the Preparatory School today when the Junior Infants Class of 2010/11 assembled at 9.00am.  In order to allow them to explore their new surroundings with confidence, they were the only boys present in the school.  All other classes return on Monday.  Mrs Denise Lowry and Ms Sharon McAdoo introduced the Junior Infants boys to the world of Primary School education during a two hour session.  All settled in very well.  The new boys were the first to use the new rubberised section of the yard for which the Parents  Council fund-raised last year.

Again this year, a much bigger number of pupils applied for places in CBC Secondary School than the school could possibly cater for.  The large numbers are whittled down by applying the school’s entry criterea.  Prep School boys are lucky, as they are the first to be offered places.  This year again, the entire Sixth Class will move on to CBC Secondary.  This morning’s Assessment Test was for boys who have already been given places in next September’s First Year classes.  The test is for internal school purposes only.

Open Morning

On Tuesday next, 10 November, there will be an open morning for parents who wish to enrol their son in next September’s Junior Infants’ Class.  Parents are welcome to view the school during the school day and to meet the Junior Infants teacher.  The session will be of about one hour’s duration.  It will start at 9.45am and conclude at 10.45am.  All with an interest are welcome to attend.
