Sport

Sport plays a central role at CBC Preparatory School. Class teachers give P.E. lessons every week on the Astro or in the Hall.  All sporting activities are coordinated by Mr. Steven Lynch who also facilitates Gaelic Football and Rugby training after school and at weekends.

RUGBY

Christians has a proud history on the rugby field and this is encouraged from an early age at the Prep School. All classes go to Lansdowne, the school’s training ground, every Friday with their teachers and coaches where they learn valuable skills and play matches within their class groups.

GAA

Junior Classes receive Gaelic Football and Hurling training with a coach from a local club. Senior Classes take part in the annual Sciath na Scol competition. We’ve had great success in this competition in the past and our students love attending training and matches with their coaches Mr. Lynch and Mr. Enright.

BATH RUGBY TOUR

A highlight of the CBC Prep experience is the annual 6th Class Rugby Trip to Bath. As well as playing matches against local teams, the boys spend time exploring the city with their teachers. It is a memorable way to mark the end of their primary school journey.

ACTIVE SCHOOLS WEEK

Each year the boys in the Preparatory School participate in Active Schools
Week. During this week the boys and their parents are encouraged to be as
active as possible. The boys engage in a variety of activities during this week.
Such activities include Wake up and Shake up in the mornings, Drop Everything and Dance, welly- throwing competitions, Hip Hop dancing, Tae-kwon-do and even Active Homework. We have been very fortunate in previous years to have had many fitness and sport enthusiasts from the community volunteer their time and expertise to us during this week. It is a week enjoyed by all each year. A big thank you to Ms. Elizabeth O’ Donovan who coordinates the week’s activities every year.
