CBC Preparatory School played their second Sciath na Scol game on Wednesday. It was our first home game and Midleton BNS were the visitors to our pitch in Lansdowne. In a great game, CBC won 5-03 to 3-03. Joey O’Neill from 6th Class took some lovely action pictures with the school camera.
Third Class had the opportunity to visit UCC recently and had a great tour of the historic College. Led by their Class Teacher, Mr Lynch, and Tour Guide, Rory, the class visited the Quad, Honan Chapel and Crawford Observatory, as well as learning more about the College and its famous history. Thanks to the Visitor’s Centre at UCC for accommodating the group.
On Monday 10th September, following the Preparatory School Parents Council AGM, parents and teachers were addressed by Dr. Maureen Griffin in a talk entitled “Social Media: Challenges for Parents”. The talk provided an overview of what is currently popular among Irish students, what the potential dangers are and offered practical advice on how to protect children when they are online or using their mobile devices. Issues such as social networking sites (e.g. Instagram); social messaging/chatting apps (e.g. snapchat); video-streaming sites (e.g. YouTube); mobile device safety; screen time; grooming and cyber-bullying were also addressed. Dr. Griffin’s talk was very well received by parents and staff alike and provided a great basis for talking with our children about Online Safety. Further information on Online Safety for Children can be found on our INFORMATION FOR PARENTS page.
