Drama in Senior Infants

Our Senior Infant boys have been displaying their acting skills this week during Irish lessons. They have been learning all about the spooky characters we meet at Halloween and acting out some lovely Halloween songs and poems as Gaeilge. One of our ghosts even popped into the office to say a poem – he gave Mr. McCarthy and Dr. Jordan a big fright!

Mrs. Curley’s Retirement Dinner

Staff and management bid a fond farewell to Mrs. Sheila Curley at a dinner in The Barn restaurant earlier this month. Mrs. Curley spent many happy years teaching Senior Infants in the Prep School before her retirement this year and will be sorely missed by students and staff alike.

Computer Coding in Junior and Senior Infants

Friday afternoons sees boys from 5th Class introducing Scratch Jr to our Junior & Senior Infants Classes. With Scratch, students can program their own interactive stories, games, and animations. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century. This enjoyable module is a very popular activity on Friday afternoons!

National Ploughing Championships 2017

Our 5th and 6th class students, along with their teachers Mr. Lynch and Ms. McAdoo, donned their wellies and travelled to the National Ploughing Championships in Tullamore, Co. Offaly. They were excited at the opportunity to watch some ploughing, cheer on the competitors in the sheep dog trials and visit some of the exhibitor’s stalls.

After an early start on the bus from Cork (complete with a lengthy sing-song) and a day spent out an about in the fresh air, they were delighted with the complimentary burger and chips (a big thank you to Jamie for arranging this for us!).

It was a great day out and all arrived home tired but happy!

October in Junior Infants

Our Junior Infants have been working hard since they started school in September and are making great progress with their reading. This week they have been practicing words from their class reader. Mrs. Lowry is very proud of the effort they are putting in!

Take a look below for some more pictures from the Junior Infant classroom.

Roald Dahl Day

Wednesday 13th September was Roald Dahl day. Some of our students from 5th and 6th class took the opportunity to share their love of Roald Dahl by choosing their favourite book to read to boys in Junior and Senior Infants. This was a hugely successful activity that was enjoyed by all.

First Class Rugby

Our first class students really enjoyed this week’s rugby training at Lansdowne. Their coaches kept everyone involved with fun games and drills. Their ball handling skills are already impressive. Conor Murray better watch his back!
