Dogs for the Disabled

We had some very special visitors to the Prep School last week when Mrs. Blaithín McDonnell from the Parents’ Council arranged a visit from Sarah and her new assistance dog from Dogs for the Disabled. They were accompanied by some of the other dogs from the charity as well as Irish International rugby player, Peter O’ Mahony, who fielded questions from the boys on topics relating to rugby and all things canine! It was a very enjoyable occasion and the students enjoyed learning about how the Assistance Dogs help people with physical disabilities.

Preparatory School Mass

On Thursday 5 September 2019 Mass was celebrated in the Prep School by Fr Tomas Walsh SMA. Each month throughout the academic year Mass is celebrated in the Prep School for an assembly of all pupils and teachers. Our monthly Mass is prepared on a rotating basis by a class group- on this occasion the boys of Sixth Class under the direction of their teacher Ms Sharon McAdoo prepared much of the liturgy. A particular focus of the religious programme for the year will be preparation for First Holy Communion(Second Class) and Confirmation(Sixth Class).

6th Class Graduation

Our 6th Class boys had their Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday 29th May on what is always a very special occasion for the students, their families and the staff of the Prep School. The ceremony opened with mass, celebrated by Fr. Tom, and was followed by a performance by the 6th class boys. The boys were then presented with certificates by Dr. Larry Jordan with ceremony ending with the highlight of every year, a slideshow of pictures of their time at CBC. Wishing all the boys the very best as they continue on to the secondary school.

Graduating 6th Year Students Visit Junior Infants

The graduating students from this year’s 6th Year cohort who began their CBC journey 14 years ago in Mrs. Lowry’s Junior Infant classroom called in to reminisce over their time in CBC and chat to the present Junior Infant Class. This is a yearly tradition in the Prep School and it’s always wonderful to see the boys and wish them luck as they leave Sidney Hill for new pastures.

Final Session at Lansdowne

In what has become something of a tradition for the students and staff at CBC Preparatory School, the final Friday training session of the school year at Lansdowne culminated in a visit from an ice-cream van. The dull weather didn’t quell the enthusiasm for the cold treats and all of the boys lined up eagerly for their ice cream! Thanks to Mr. Lynch and our 4th Year coaches  for another great year of rugby at Lansdowne.

Junior Infants Open Morning 2019

The incoming Junior Infants visited the Prep School this month to meet their teacher Mrs. Lowry and see the classroom where they will begin their journey at CBC. The Open Morning was a great opportunity for the boys to get to know each other whilst enjoying some fun activities that Mrs. Lowry had prepared for them. It was also an opportunity for the parents to meet one another as they enjoyed refreshments in the lunchroom with our Principal,  Dr. Larry Jordan. We look forward to welcoming the boys back again in September!
