CBC in Hurling Final

CBC have reached the final of the Hurling level Roinn H6 competition. The game will be played next Wednesday, 23 May, at Páirc Ui Rinn at 11.30am. The opposing team is Dungourney. Arrangements are being made to get as many pupils as possible to attend the match and support our team on the day. Entrance costs €2 for children and €5 for adults; more information later.

Thursday 29 March was a day of great excitement in the Preparatory School. Many of the pupils witnessed CBC’s victory in the Munster Junior Cup the day before. Winning in Musgrave Park in glorious sunshine was a memorable occasion, but what made it even better was the fact that the team captain, Gregory Roche, was a past pupil of the Preparatory School.

As on all such occasions, the winning team was welcomed back to the College with the cup the day after the victory. The avenue was lined with pupils and teachers and the boys were clapped and cheered as they make their way to the main school building.

First to greet them were the boys of the Preparatory School. As can be seen from the pictures below, they gave Captain Gregory Roche and his gallant team mates an extra special reception.

Second Class Come First

Second Class took the top prize today in the Feis Maitiu Choral Verse competition. The boys were delighted to return to CBC with their big silver cup. Congratulations to all the boys on their success.

Cake Sale

A cake sale has been organised for tomorrow, Friday. The boys of Fifth and Sixth Class will bring in cakes to sell during the morning break. The sale will continue at 12.30pm to 1.10pm so that parents can also buy. The funds will go towards the Sixth Class Bath Tour. Christmas Concert Dress Rehearsal

The Christmas Concert will be staged on Thursday next at the earlier than normal time of 5.00pm. This change is to suit the younger children who find the late finishing time very tiring. Hopefully, it will not inconvenience parents too much. The pictures below were taken at the dress rehearsal in the Secondary School Hall where the Concert will be staged.

Congratulations to Robbie O’Flynn for gaining a place on the Cork hurling team and for scoring the winning goal last Sunday. Also to Tadgh Quill-Manley for being awarded a certificate at the Irish Centre for Talented Youth, and to our class league chess winners.

Sixth Class Successes

Sixth Class boys Fahd Baig Mirza and Conall Williamson won medals in Cricket and at Feis Maitiú repectfully. Fahd’s medal was won in an All-Munster competition playing with Harlequins; Conall won no less than three medals, all awarded for first place, one in Poetry, one in Prose Reading and the third for Irish Singing. Well done to both!
