Orangutans and Palm Oil

Earlier this week Mr Lynch had a well earned break as one of his 3rd Class boys presented a project to the class on Orangutans and Palm Oil.
It was a very interesting project showing how deforestation is affecting the habitats of Orangutans in search of Palm Oil – which is used in many items in our shopping basket each week.

5th and 6th Class Science

This week’s Science lesson for 5th and 6th class centred on The Circulatory System. The boys were fascinated as they watched Mr. O’ Connell dissect a heart in the science lab and they all enjoyed the challenge of identifying the various parts from the diagram in their book.

UCC Cell Explorers Team Visits CBC

The Preparatory School was lucky to be visited by a team of scientists from UCC last week for Science Week during which they delivered a fantastic workshop to our 3rd and 4th Class students. The boys participated in the Fantastic DNA school visit as part of the Cell EXPLORERS Roadshow, which runs nationally to promote science discovery and hands on learning. Students learned about cells and DNA, completed experiments, and model building exercises with a team of scientists. They really enjoyed the hands-on workshop  which was a fantastic addition to the school’s Science Week programme.
