SOW & GROW PROJECT

Junior Infants and Third Class are involved in a ‘Sow & Grow’ Project and have had some spectacular results to date.

We planted our Cress, Beetroot and Runner Beans outside in our School Garden

Our caretaker, Brian Austin, was willing to help as he is very interested in flowers and plants. He showed the boys how to build a wigwam to help the Runner Beans to grow and he explained why it was important to keep their leaves off the ground. Slugs would have a feast!! He showed some signs of where slugs were eating into plants.

The boys had great fun putting the wigwam together, using bamboo sticks and string and then planted all their plants in the garden, tying the Runner Beans to the bamboo sticks, and then planting the Cress and Beetroot.

We were very proud of our day’s work.
